  • Sale! majestic, highly detailed white marble sculpture depicts the Hindu goddess Durga and her divine family, known as the 'Durga Parivar' or 'Durga Mahishasuramardini' tableau. The pristine white stone material emphasizes the intricate craftsmanship against a plain dark gray background. At the center, the multi-armed Goddess Durga is seated in a powerful yet serene posture, adorned with an elaborate crown, necklaces, and bangles. She holds various symbolic weapons and attributes in her eight visible hands, including a prominent trident (trishula) in her upper left hand, a scimitar or sword, a conch shell (shankha), a bow, arrows, and other implements, symbolizing her divine power and protection. Below her, her traditional mount, a magnificent lion with a flowing mane, is depicted in a protective stance, poised with an open mouth. Flanking the central figure are her accompanying deities, meticulously carved: To Durga's left (viewer's left), Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed deity, is seated, likely holding a modak (sweet) and an axe, representing wisdom and auspicious beginnings. Standing beside him is Goddess Lakshmi, gracefully holding a lotus bud, symbolizing prosperity, purity, and fortune. To Durga's right (viewer's right), Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge, music, and arts, is seated, elegantly playing her veena (a stringed instrument). Standing next to her is Lord Kartikeya (also known as Skanda or Murugan), depicted as a youthful warrior with a spear (vel), symbolizing courage and victory. The entire divine assembly is framed by a towering and ornate arch-like backdrop, or prabhavali, exquisitely carved with delicate floral patterns, scrollwork, and mythological motifs. At the very apex of this arch, a smaller, meditating figure, possibly representing Shiva or Brahma, is perched. The figures rest on a multi-layered, round pedestal intricately carved with traditional lotus petal designs, signifying purity and divinity. The smooth finish and the fine details, from the delicate facial expressions and flowing drapery to the minute jewelry and attributes, highlight the exceptional skill involved in this traditional stone carving art. This white marble idol is a significant representation of Hindu religious devotion and artistic heritage.
