  • Sale! tall, majestic, rectangular ancient Mayan relief carving, or stela, made from light gray or beige, textured limestone, stands vertically against a dark, featureless background. The deep bas-relief sculpture prominently features a regal, human-like figure depicted in profile, facing slightly towards the right. This central figure, likely a Classic Maya ruler or deity, wears an exceptionally elaborate and towering headdress, adorned with multiple layers of long, flowing feathers that fan out upwards and backwards, along with a stylized, zoomorphic head — possibly a quetzal bird or a mythological serpent — at its crest. The figure's face features a prominent nose and chin, typical of Mesoamerican art, and its body is clad in rich ceremonial attire. A complex, multi-layered pectoral necklace or chest plate covers the upper torso, intricately detailed with geometric patterns. The arms are bent, with the left hand (from the viewer's perspective) appearing to hold a ceremonial staff or scepter that extends downwards, while the right arm rests alongside a patterned sash or belt.
