The figure of Goddess Lakshmi, draped in a red sari, bedecked with gold jewellery, seated on a lotus, pot in hand, accompanied by white elephants, adorns most Hindu homes and businesses.
Lakshmi is the goddess of money, fortune, power, luxury, beauty, fertility, and auspiciousness, among other things. She embodies the promise of monetary happiness and satisfaction. Her arms are outstretched to bless and bestow her blessings, and she is described as restless, whimsical, and maternal.
Lakshmi’s holy name is Shri. Shri is written on the top of most papers and pronounced before addressing a deity, a teacher, a holy man, or anybody else who is adored. Grace, opulence, abundance, auspiciousness, and authority are all connoted by the term. When the word is uttered or written, it creates an air of sacredness. Everything that follows is infused with heavenly goodness. Shri is related to the tangible part of existence, just as the term “Om” is to the metaphysical side of life.
Lakshmi is the goddess of beauty and abundance in nature. She fosters life as Bhoodevi, the soil goddess, and bestows strength, joy, and wealth on those who merit it as Shreedevi, the goddess of fortune. To understand her, one must respect life’s laws and wonders of existence.
Lakshmi is beautiful! Her smile is warm and welcoming to all of her fans. In her rear hands, she holds two lotus blossoms. Her right hand is in the abhaya mudra in front of her, while her left hand is in the varada mudra, bestowing blessings on her followers.
Lakshmi, the Hindu Goddess of Wealth, is the Hindu Goddess of Prosperity. Not necessarily in terms of financial richness, but in terms of spiritual abundance, contentment, and bliss.
She adopts various incarnations to follow Lord Vishnu on his mission to maintain the dharma as his bride. Bhoodevi, the mother earth-goddess, was one of her avatars. In this sculpture, she appears to be the Mother.
