The figure is seated in the traditional padmasana (lotus position), with legs crossed and feet resting on opposite thighs, on a simple, rectangular plinth. The Tirthankara's face conveys a serene and peaceful expression, with eyes downcast in deep contemplation. Behind and above the head, a magnificent multi-headed Naga (cobra) hood fans out protectively, clearly showing the distinct heads and adorned with intricate white, crescent-shaped markings on the underside of each hood, creating a striking contrast against the dark stone. The statue portrays the figure in digambara (sky-clad) form, symbolizing detachment and renunciation. A prominent symbol, appearing as a four-pointed star or cross-like chihna, is carved into the center of the chest. The hands are gently clasped in dhyana mudra (meditation gesture), palms facing upwards, with subtle white decorative lines highlighting the fingers, wrists, ankles, and tops of the feet, adding delicate detail to the overall dark sculpture. This finely crafted piece of traditional Indian spiritual art emphasizes both detailed iconography and a profound sense of calm divinity, making it a compelling representation of meditation, spiritual enlightenment, and Jain heritage.
