  • Sale! magnificent, dark grey or black stone sculpture of the Hindu deity Lord Ganesha is presented centrally against a plain, light grey backdrop. The detailed statue depicts Ganesha seated gracefully in a traditional meditative posture, with his legs crossed in a relaxed manner, resting on a multi-layered lotus base (Padmasana) that signifies purity and spiritual growth. This lotus seat is elevated by a sturdy, rectangular plinth, giving the entire piece a grounded and majestic presence. Ganesha is portrayed with his iconic elephant head, featuring large, fanned ears and a gently curved trunk that is positioned to the left. He has a single, intact tusk, symbolizing the ability to overcome duality and embrace the one truth. His forehead is adorned with an intricately carved crown (mukuta) that reflects traditional Indian design. The deity has four arms, each holding symbolic attributes. His front right hand is raised in the Abhaya Mudra, a gesture of reassurance and protection, with the palm facing forward. The front left hand cradles a small bowl, likely filled with modaks (sweet dumplings), representing the rewards of spiritual endeavor. His rear right hand clutches an axe (parashu), symbolizing the cutting away of worldly attachments and ignorance. The rear left hand holds a noose (pasha), used to gently capture and control desires or obstacles. Ganesha’s prominent pot belly is a symbol of prosperity and the ability to digest all experiences. A detailed serpent (Naga) is draped across his body as a sacred thread (Yagnopaveetam). The entire figure is backed by a stunning, elaborately carved semi-circular prabhavali, or aura, which frames Ganesha. This prabhavali features symmetrical floral motifs, scrollwork, and delicate patterns, culminating in a central, stylized pinnacle at the top. Smaller, decorative figures or celestial beings are carved into the vertical sections on either side of the arch. The deep, uniform dark tone of the stone, possibly granite or a similar robust material, highlights the exceptional craftsmanship and the intricate details carved into every aspect of the sculpture. The subtle light grey background ensures Ganesha is the sole focus, emphasizing the serene yet powerful aura of the deity. This traditional Indian art piece beautifully embodies the symbolism of Lord Ganesha as the Remover of Obstacles, Lord of Beginnings, and giver of wisdom and prosperity, making it a significant representation for spiritual practice, artistic appreciation, or as an elegant statement piece for home or garden decor.

  • Sale! highly detailed, dark grey or black stone sculpture depicts the powerful and fierce Hindu goddess Kali standing dynamically over her consort, Lord Shiva. The intricate carving showcases Kali in her iconic four-armed form, embodying destruction, time, and liberation. Kali dominates the composition, positioned with her right leg bent and her left leg extended, firmly stepping on the reclining figure of Shiva. Her face expresses intense determination with wide, captivating eyes and a signature protruding tongue, symbolizing her fierce aspect and the devouring of illusions. She wears an elaborate crown, and behind her head, a circular halo or aura is visible. Each of her four arms holds significant attributes: In her upper right hand, she brandishes a curved khadga (scimitar or ritual sword), representing the severing of ignorance. Her upper left hand holds a kapala (skull cup), often associated with offerings or the drinking of blood. Her lower right hand grasps the severed head of a demon, signifying her triumph over ego and evil. • majestic and intricately detailed statue of Lord Krishna, carved from a dark, possibly bronze or stone, material with a rich, almost verdigris green or deep metallic finish. The devotional sculpture stands tall against a clean, light grey to white gradient background, emphasizing its exquisite craftsmanship. Krishna is depicted in a graceful tribhanga (three-bend) pose, with his right leg crossed elegantly over his left, poised to play a horizontal flute held delicately to his lips. His face wears a serene, beatific expression, adorned with an elaborate, multi-tiered crown (mukut) featuring intricate patterns and possibly a peacock feather at its peak, alongside delicate earrings. His slender body is embellished with multiple necklaces, armlets, wristlets, and a beautifully draped dhoti or loincloth with highly detailed pleats and a decorative waist belt (kamarbandh), along with anklets on his feet. Behind Krishna's head, an ornate circular prabhamandala (aureole or halo) rises, featuring radiating patterns that resemble sun rays, lotus petals, or stylized flames, topped with decorative finials, signifying his divine essence. Flowing sashes or garlands cascade from behind his shoulders, adding to the dynamic composition. Flanking Krishna's lower body, one on each side, are two peacefully standing cows or calves, subtly adorned and positioned slightly behind him, symbolizing his pastoral life as a cowherd and his connection to nature. The entire ensemble rests securely on a beautifully carved, multi-layered lotus petal base (padmasana), which elevates the figure and provides a harmonious foundation. The statue's dark patina is highlighted by the studio lighting, revealing the fine textures and depth of the carving, from the individual strands of Krishna's hair to the tiny patterns on his garments and the delicate features of the cows. A subtle watermark for "The Stone Studio" is visible at the bottom of the base. This piece exemplifies traditional Indian religious art, Hindu mythology, and master craftsmanship, reflecting themes of divinity, music, and nature. • majestic, light pink-hued stone sculpture depicts the multi-armed Hindu goddess Durga, also known as Ashtabhuja Durga, seated dynamically upon her powerful lion mount. The intricately carved statue, likely fashioned from sandstone or a similar light-colored natural stone, showcases exceptional traditional Indian craftsmanship. The goddess has a serene, contemplative expression on her face, framed by an elaborately detailed crown and hairstyle. She is richly adorned with traditional Indian jewelry, including ornate necklaces, armbands, bangles, and anklets. Her eight arms radiate outwards from her slender torso, each holding a significant attribute or performing a gesture: in her left hands (from top to bottom), she holds a conch shell, a bow, displays an open palm in a blessing or fear-not gesture (abhaya mudra), and a small vessel; in her right hands, she holds a mace, an arrow, a trident, and a blooming lotus flower. Her lower body is gracefully draped in sculpted fabric, suggesting traditional attire, with intricate folds and details. She is seated with one leg bent, its foot resting on the lion's back, while the other leg is positioned to convey readiness or dynamic motion. The powerful lion, her vahana (divine vehicle), is depicted with a detailed mane, sharp features, and a watchful, forward gaze, serving as a steadfast support for the deity. The entire sculpture rests on a simple, round stone base, matching the material and color of the deity. The artwork is presented against a plain, dark gray gradient background that subtly enhances the intricate details and spiritual presence of this traditional Indian deity statue. A 'the Stone Studio' watermark is visible in the bottom right corner, identifying the origin of this handcrafted sculpture. This exquisite piece embodies themes of strength, protection, and divine grace, making it a perfect visual representation for articles discussing Hindu religious art, ancient craftsmanship, or the rich iconography of Hindu deities. Our Story

Rooted in Heritage, Crafted with Devotion

Every stone statue in The Stone Studio collection is hand-carved by skilled artisans, primarily from Odisha — a state with an unbroken stone-carving tradition stretching back over a thousand years. Hand-carving means that no two pieces are ever perfectly identical. There will always be subtle, beautiful variations in the grain of the stone, the depth of a particular line, or the way light catches a polished surface — and these are not flaws but signatures of authenticity.

This is fundamentally different from factory-produced, mold-cast statues. Molded pieces are uniform but lack soul — edges are rounded, detailing is shallow, and the material is typically reconstituted stone dust or cement rather than solid, natural stone.
