  • Sale! detailed, dark stone statue depicting a meditating Jain Tirthankara, most likely Parshvanatha, carved from a rich, dark grey or black material with a slightly textured finish. The figure is seated in the traditional padmasana (lotus position), with legs crossed and feet resting on opposite thighs, on a simple, rectangular plinth. The Tirthankara's face conveys a serene and peaceful expression, with eyes downcast in deep contemplation. Behind and above the head, a magnificent multi-headed Naga (cobra) hood fans out protectively, clearly showing the distinct heads and adorned with intricate white, crescent-shaped markings on the underside of each hood, creating a striking contrast against the dark stone. The statue portrays the figure in digambara (sky-clad) form, symbolizing detachment and renunciation. A prominent symbol, appearing as a four-pointed star or cross-like chihna, is carved into the center of the chest. The hands are gently clasped in dhyana mudra (meditation gesture), palms facing upwards, with subtle white decorative lines highlighting the fingers, wrists, ankles, and tops of the feet, adding delicate detail to the overall dark sculpture. This finely crafted piece of traditional Indian spiritual art emphasizes both detailed iconography and a profound sense of calm divinity, making it a compelling representation of meditation, spiritual enlightenment, and Jain heritage. The statue stands prominently against a plain, light grey background, allowing its intricate features and dark material to be fully appreciated. A 'The Stone Studio' watermark is visible in the lower left portion of the image.

  • magnificent and intricately carved black stone sculpture of a Hindu goddess stands majestically against a clean, uniformly lit white background. The statue depicts a serene female deity in a commanding upright posture, embodying classical Indian artistic and devotional traditions. The goddess is adorned with an elaborate, tiered crown (known as a kirita-mukuta) featuring delicate sculptural details. Her hair is styled in abundant, textured locks that cascade gracefully around her shoulders and back. Her face exhibits a calm and beatific expression, with finely sculpted eyes, a prominent nose, and subtly smiling lips. Large, ornate earrings, multiple layered necklaces, and detailed armlets further embellish her divine form. She is depicted with six arms, a common attribute for many Hindu goddesses, symbolizing immense power and multifaceted aspects. Her primary right hand is raised in the abhaya mudra, a gesture of reassurance and fearlessness, palm facing outwards. Her primary left hand is lowered, palm facing outwards, in the varada mudra, symbolizing the granting of boons and charity. The two upper hands each hold a stylized, upward-pointing object resembling a flame or a torch-like implement, possibly representing a deepa (lamp) or sacred fire. Her remaining hands also hold symbolic objects, which appear to be lotus buds or other sacred emblems. Her slender torso is clad in a richly decorated bustier, and her waist is cinched by an ornate girdle. A beautifully draped lower garment, reminiscent of a traditional sari or dhoti, flows elegantly down to her ankles with intricate pleats and decorative patterns, revealing her bare feet. Intricate anklets encircle her legs. The goddess stands firmly on a robust, multi-tiered circular pedestal, which is intricately carved with traditional lotus petal motifs, a design known as a padmasana base, symbolizing purity and divinity. The dark, almost black, polished stone material gives the sculpture a profound sense of antiquity, permanence, and spiritual gravitas, highlighting the exceptional skill and meticulous craftsmanship involved in its creation. This striking piece is a testament to the rich heritage of South Indian temple art and would be a significant focal point in any article discussing traditional Hindu iconography, spiritual symbolism, artisanal stone carving, or cultural heritage. • majestic and intricately carved sandstone sculpture, rendered in a warm reddish-brown hue with subtle greenish patina, stands prominently against a dark, textured charcoal grey background. The central figure is a graceful female deity or Yakshi, embodying divine motherhood and fertility, presented in a classical Indian art style, reminiscent of ancient temple sculptures. She stands tall and elegant, her left arm raised to balance a spherical earthen pot on her head, suggesting themes of sustenance, water-bearing, and abundance. Her bare upper torso reveals prominent breasts, symbolizing nourishment, adorned with multiple elaborate necklaces, armlets, and bracelets. A richly detailed, patterned waist belt cinches her flowing lower garment, which drapes gracefully around her legs. In her right arm, she tenderly cradles a healthy, plump infant child, who reaches affectionately towards her bare breast, emphasizing maternal connection and nourishment. At her left foot, a smaller, lively toddler stands, looking up at her, perhaps holding onto her leg, further illustrating the family dynamic. Her face wears a serene and benevolent expression, with gently closed or downcast eyes, framed by an ornate crown or elaborate headdress. Long, flowing waves are carved on the left side of the sculpture, possibly representing her hair, drapery, or even flowing water. At her right foot, a finely carved stylized swan (hamsa), a common symbol of purity and wisdom in Hindu iconography, is integrated into the composition.
